Røros - This old copper mining town is on UNESCO’S World Heritage list. It is popular for it’s carefully preserved architecture. A visit to Røros allows you to experience a unique small town atmosphere or take a guided tour of the old copper mines. Røros lies 38 km north of Telneset.
Tolga - In the summer months Tolga comes alive with the annual local folk festival Olsok. During the festival you can sample local food, buy local handicraft or place a bid on an antique piece of furniture at the popular auction. Tolga lies 12 km north of Telneset.
Vingelen - This farming village is very picturesque with its abundance of old timber buildings. Here you can visit the old church or visit a farm, which produces local cheeses. Vingelen is also popular for its hunting grounds and lies 10 km to the north west of Telneset.
Tynset - This small town, lies 10 km south of Telneset. It is the shopping center of the region. Here you can visit the museum, work out at the gym or go to the movies. In the winter you can go skiing on the lighted cross country ski tracks. The regions hospital is also at Tynset.
Savalen - Here you will find the Savalen Hotel and Spa. In the summer months Savalen is popular for its jogging and walking trails. In the winter you can go cross country skiing on its lighted tracks. Savalen also has alpine skiing slopes. Savalen lies 30 km south of Telneset.
Alvdal - Here you can visit the Aukrust center which houses the work of the late Kjell Aukrust – the famous Norwegian animator. The areas most domineering mountain Tronfjell lies in Alvdal. Jutulhogget - the biggest canyon in Northern Europe also lies close to Alvdal which is approximately 30 km south of Telneset.
Os - The area’s most popular alpine skiing slope is in Os which lies 30 km north of Telneset.
Folldal - The gateway to Rondane, the second largest mountain range in Norway.
Folldal lies about 70 km to the south west of Telneset.
